I am very grateful for the opportunity I have had to read Daughters in My Kingdom. There are so many different aspects of this book that have touched me and strengthened my testimony of the love that my Savior has for me and the blessing that the Relief Society program is.
We are not alone; we are here to help each other, serve and do His work, and strengthen our families and others. In every section I learned something new, something that will help me be a better person and that will help me bless my family more.
As I read this book, one thing that stuck out to me is, throughout the history of the Relief Society, inspired leaders have known when it was time to add to the program or change a certain part to fit the needs of the sisters at that time. I feel leaders were inspired now to compile this book of the history of Relief Society with the purpose of Relief Society, along with personal stories of people that have been touched and blessed by this program.
We need this book now. We need to know the history, and to know women just like us have overcome terrible things, being driven from their homes, being in a war-torn country with death and destruction all around them, but have clung to the truths that they knew and did not give up. They served each other, strengthened their families, and overcame their trials with faith and strong testimonies of their Savior’s love for them. We may not have the same trials that many of those women faced, but we do have trials and our families are under attack. We are not alone; we are here to help each other, serve and do His work, and strengthen our families and others. We are Daughters in His Kingdom.
