I read Daughters in My Kingdom when I had a chance between diapers, laundry, cooking, and cleaning. I thought my little life in my little home was unimportant and insignificant, but this book helped me remember that it is the everyday actions of women that influence the world around us.
Relief Society is an extremely effective and influential organization, yet we do not hear about it in the news like we do about the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and other charitable organizations. But Relief Society takes care of more people, more needs, and teaches and lead more women than any other women’s society. We take care of one another and our everyday needs, things that the world might not notice.
Just like my life: I take care of little children and the audience of my charitable acts is small—but it is vital. I am vital. Relief Society is vital. I know I am important because God knows who I am. Relief Society helps me magnify these thoughts and actions, and I am grateful for it.
